Merry Mayhem #148 NYD Mystery 2024 from The Modern Diary

Today BJ and I sewed online (and Andrea popped in).  She was working on her Cuts and Bolts mystery, and I was working on my surprise clue seven from Indigo Way.  As usual I did the math wrong and this time instead of cutting half the units, I cut double the units.  I have many leftover that I can sew or bag up for future.  I need to put these hourglass blocks into the blocks, but that is for tomorrow maybe.

This is the bonus Eye Spy quilt I managed to get sewed while working on the mysteries this year ...

Ghosts and Witches! from The Modern Diary

Here is the next BOM for A Quilting Life.  Keeping all caught up!

Hazel told me I needed more Halloween decorations so I whipped up a couple ghost pillows.  I will send one home with her.

Then today I decided I needed one to match the little ghost who was a quilt quilt!  So I sewed with Becky and Barb and got this made today.

Last week I quilted and bound it and Hazel has been loving it.  Has napped with it, used it to play with her beans, etc.

Today I also paper pieced this witch which has been ...

The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt and More! from The Modern Diary

Barb sent me "The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt" for my birthday and it inspired me to whip up a little quilt to match.
This is an Eye Spy I finished at the old house that I am not sure made it in the blog.
Hazel enjoyed doing some art work at my house yesterday.  She made a pom pom jack o lantern and then several monsters.  She is three now--time flies so fast!
I decided to machine stitch around the flowers and all for September Golds by Kathleen Tracy.  I then quilted around those same things and got ...

A Pile of Progress! from The Modern Diary

Last Thursday I sewed with Becky and Barb online, we have a standing Thursday sew time which is nice!  So I decided to put most of the applique on this on by machine and then chain stitched the stem.  No awards won, but I will get it quilted so we can enjoy it this fall.  The pattern is September Golds from Red Button Quilt Company I love her patterns and have amassed quite a collection.  Barb made this one with me too.
I quilted this quilt myself a few months ago.  It turned out alright.  Finally got the binding made ...

Parade of Quilts Made with Friends from The Modern Diary

You have already seen my Pat Sloan Christmastime Mystery top, but I wanted to share Barb's and Becky's now that theirs are flimsies.
Above is Barb's and below is Becky's.  They all turned out so differently!  We have a weekly sewing appointment on Thursday afternoons (and sometimes meet up more) and it is so fun to sew along mostly on the same stuff, but sometimes on our own stuff.  We are all now working on finishing up Ruby Jubilee (some of us are copying Bonnie's version) and we will be working on the new Quiltville ...

Sewing with Friends! from The Modern Diary

I put a border on my Boo Crew Quilt!

Becky and Barb and I worked on our Soul Mates Mystery Sewalong a few weeks ago and got the tops together.  My borders went on later that week.  Not the greatest picture as it is too big to lay out inside and I have not had the energy to take it outside in the heat!
Here is Becky's.  So fun to see two quilts in the same colors still be so different!

I got out my daughter's old dollhouse for Hazel (who will be two in September) and she ...

Soul Mates Part 5! from The Modern Diary

Barb, Becky and I got together again last Thursday online to complete clue five of Soul Mates.  I changed up the colors as I had an error in an earlier clue so why not make it a happy accident?  I tried out several looks before deciding.

This is the one I went with.  I wanted my inspiration fabric in this clue.  Maybe should have used it in the small blue triangles, but I am guessing I will like it when it is all put together next Thursday when we get toghether again.
Here is Barb's clue.  She ran out ...

Soul Mates and a Sewalong! from The Modern Diary

Barb completed clue 3 of Soul Mates when we sewed with Becky last Thursday.  Then Friday she caught up on the current clue.

Here are mine.

All four clues so far.
Here is Becky's Clue.

July 31st Gudrun is having an all day sewalong of her Kimberly pattern.  I chose my fabrics last night and did the cutting today (you can make this with two layer cakes). Really excited to do this one though not sure if any of my sewing buddies are doing it.  Info at the website.  There are three different pattern options too.

Sewing with Friends! from The Modern Diary

Kathy and I and Hazel got a great picture outside last week.  Everyone is smiling!
I worked on the second clue for the Kim Diehl Sewalong Mystery.  Oops.
I had to fix it twice before I was happy...did not line up right the second time.
Here it is with the next clue which was sawtooth starts.  There is another clue out (pinwheels) which I need to whip up this weekend.  Hazel is on her way here to spend the night for the first time so we will see if I get time to sew during her nap.
Here is ...
